Romney's 47% Hullabaloo

The establishment media and its benefactors in the Obama Administration are in an uproar over a statement Mitt Romney made in a Florida campaign fundraiser five months ago.  Video of this has been posted by the scurrilous leftist rag Mother Jones named for a prominent historical labor union agitator and a "journalistic" member in good standing of America's hard left media.  Romney mentioned, quite correctly, that a significant percentage of Americans (he says 47%) are dependent on the federal government for their financial well-being and he thinks that is not a healthy societal trend.  You can quibble with the statistics, which can be compiled using different methodologies and metrics, but you can't deny the unequivocal reality that historic and ongoing economic trends are pushing this country to a tipping point where more than half the population will be economically dependent on government transfer payments.

This will accelerate our governmental spending problem and decrease the tax base as more people turn to the government (in reality the self-reliant individuals, families, and businesses) of this country to finance their material needs.  This is a recipe for drastic economic decline and internecine societal conflict.  We have to address the reality that our economic travails have been brought about by the increased and economically and demographically unsustainable growth in federal entitlement programs including Social Security, Medicare, and social assistance programs such as Aid to Families with Dependent Children.  Romney may have come across clumsily in stating this problem, but no amount of whining and squealing by Democrats and their media allies can deny this reality.

During the years before the Civil War, pro-slavery Democrats were often called the slavocracy because of their supporting the human bondage of the nation's black residents.  Human slavery no longer legally exists in America, but it has been replaced by an economic, political, social slavocracy headquartered within the Democratic Party, the establishment media, and significant sections of academe.  Our contemporary slavocracy believes we are helpless victims of circumstance and that we need to depend on the federal government for our economic and social sustenance.  This mindset believes we do not have to be responsible for our decisions and actions and that some one else is responsible for our misfortune.  In this warped statist worldview, which is inherently secular, government becomes God and the sole reason people exist is to empower the government to exercise jurisdiction over as many aspects of our lives as possible.

Those of us who do not adhere to this dangerous delusion, need to remind our friends, families, colleagues, and neighbors what the consequences of this dependence on government can produce.  We need only look as far as  Europe where numerous countries, including Greece, are exploding with overwhelming debt and stagnant growth, due to the delusional secularist belief that individual initiative and character doesn't matter and that national or supranational governmental entities such as the European Union can meet all societal needs.  European countries and America need to rediscover personal and governmental financial restraint and reclaim the superiority of the Calvinist work ethic if we are to restore our economic stability and give future generations the chance to materially and spiritually enhance their lives and destinies.
