The child molestation scandal which has destroyed the Pennsylvania State University football program and the formerly sterling reputation of coach Joe Paterno is an allegory of moral decline and corruption. I am a big college football fan and it saddens me to see Penn State University make such horrible choices and tolerate moral perversion at the highest levels. We are witnessing the full consequences of moral relativism which has infected our society for many decades. There are many factors contributing to this and documenting them all would take multiple books.
Thanks to shoddily reasoned Supreme Court decisions such as Engel v. Vitale and Murray v. Curlett, organized prayer has been removed from American public schools in the name of genuflecting before the secularist mythology of separation of church and state. Secularist extortionists groups like the ACLU and the Freedom from Religion Foundation guarantee that any modicum of effort to insert some semblance of religious morality into public life and debate is threatened with protracted and financially expensive litigation. Nearly five decades of history have seen concerted efforts to strip nearly all forms of religious expression and doctrine from K-12 education and non-religious schools. Simultaneously, we have witnessed the promotion of the pernicious belief that there is no absolute morality and that forms of sexual expression outside of heterosexual marriage are equally valid and have no lasting consequence.
The Penn State case demolishes this lame rationale. Numerous males have been defiled by Jerry Sandusky and the long-standing coverup of his pederast perversions by the highest echelons of Penn State University. The psychic and psychological scars of Sandusky's pedophilia will endure forever and may result in its victims choosing to embrace a lifestyle of sexual perversion. Universities and nations need to recognize that sexual choices have enduring consequences for individuals and society at large and that they can no longer hide behind the altar of encouraging diversity in all expressions of life. God did not create us to have diverse sexualities and we need to accept that unequivocal reality and quit deluding ourselves into the idea that all forms of sexual expression are acceptable if they enable us to feel good about ourselves. From now on Penn State University and this scandal will be irrevocably linked and its stain will never fade. Universities must quit genuflecting before the false "God" of diversity, and remember that the way to true excellence and academic and moral accomplishment is through an uncompromising adherence to the Judeo-Christian absolutist moral values that make our country great.
