Barack Obama's traveling liberal national salvation show is coming to Purdue University today. He's going to be part of a "forum" on emerging national security threats hosted by the Purdue Students for Barack Obama chapter and has invited guests who are not going to ask him pointed or unpleasant questions about his own abysmal national security policy record or understanding of national security policy issues. Prominent associates of Obama who will be at this gathering include Indiana's junior Senator Evan Bayh and former Georgia Senator Sam Nunn who's actual knowledge of national security issues is highly overrated despite his long-service as Senate Armed Services Committee chairman. Nunn is viewed by the liberal national security cognoscenti as something of a oracle although he should be best remembered for the shabby way he treated John Tower during the former Texas' Senator's nomination for Secretary of Defense during 1989.
Today's Purdue gathering will be a ritualized orgy of blaming President Bush for everything that's wrong with the world and praising the dangerously naive Obama as the solution to everything that's wrong in the world. It's even possible that some of Obama's invited sycophantic acolytes in the audience will proclaim him humanity's messiah and the new prince of peace. (Better not tell Michelle Obama that cause it will shoot her ethnic victimization story to bits!) This gathering will not address real national security issues such as how the surge in Iraq is working; how to effectively fight and defeat the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan; how to maintain effective intelligence against terroorists and other national security threats facing the U.S.; how to develop effective defenses against information warfare threats from China or other hostile entities; how to deal with China's growing military power; how to strengthen the effectivness of our nuclear weapons deterrent; how to constrain courts hellbent on giving Islamist terrorists the constitutional rights of law-abiding American citizens; how to cope with the increasing assertiveness of the Russian military who's finances have drastically improved thanks to increased oil and natural gas revenues, and other subjects. No this is another Potemkin village exercise designed to portray Barack Obama as the benificent and prescient leader who will usher in the new millenium of change and other left wing vapidities. We don't want to have anybody with the effrontery to show that the liberal anointed emperor has no clothes and doesn't have a clue about the Hobbesian nature of international security issues in the opening decade of the 21st century.
